Please see below some general information about Ógras and Ógras Summer Camps, updated to include information on this year's virtual Summer Camps to be held online from mid-July to early August.

Ógras: Cé muid? - Who are we?

Bunaíodh Ógras, Ógeagraíocht Chonradh na Gaeilge i 1969 le deis a thabhairt do dhaoine óga teacht le chéile ag clubanna, campaí agus ócáidí eile ag feidhmiú trí mheán na Gaeilge. 

Ógras is the Irish language Youth Organisation founded by Conradh na Gaeilge in 1969 to give young people the opportunity to come together in youth clubs, camps and events run through the medium of Irish. 

Fís agus Cuspóirí - Vision and Objectives 

Fís - Vision:
Eispéireas spraíúil a thabhairt do pháistí agus do dhaoine óga a spreagfaidh meon dearfach i leith foghlaim na Gaeilge trí seirbhís a chur ar fáil ar-líne le foireann cáilithe, le taithí ar obair óige agus múineadh na Gaeilge.​
To give children and young people a fun experience that will foster a positive attitude towards learning the Irish language by providing an online service with a qualified team, who have experience in hyouth work and in teaching Irish.

Campa+

Chomh maith leis seo uilig, déanfaidh na daoine óga Campa+, ina n-oibreoidh siad go neamhspleách ar thionscnamh le téama difriúil gach lá, tar éis an champa.

As well as all this, the young people will participate in Campa+, where they will work independently on a project on a different theme every day, after camp hours.

Cosaint Leanaí - Child Protection

  • Tá ár mhúinteoirí agus ceannairí ardoilte agus ardcháilithe, agus tá gach baill foireann ag obair ag na campaí curtha faoi réamhscrúdú an Gharda Síochána.

  • Beidh ar a laghad beirt dhuine fásta i gceannas ar gach seisiún. 

  • Ní scaoilfear aon pháiste isteach sa seisiún ar-líne go dtí go bhfuil ar a laghad beirt dhuine fásta agus beirt dhuine óga sa 'seomra feithimh' don seisiún.
     

  • Our teachers and leaders are highly skilled and qualified, and all staff working at the camps are Garda vetted beforehand.

  • There will be at least two adults in charge of each session

  • No child will be allowed in to any online session until there are at least two adults and two young people in the 'waiting room' for the session.

Le bheith réidh agat - What to have prepared 

  • Ba chóir dos na daoine óga ag na Campaí Samhraidh Ógras ar-líne a bheith gléasta i slí oiriúnach, agus chun aclaíocht/rince srl. a dhéanamh, agus sciath ghréine a bheith orthu ar eagla go bhfuil roinnt dos na ceachtanna don lá lasmuigh (sa ghairdín/sráid in aice leis an teach).

  • Ba chóir go mbeidh daoine óga ag na campaí a bheith in áit 'oscailte' sa teaghlach (ní i seomra leapa) inar féidir le tuismitheoirí a bheith in aice láimhe chun seiceáil isteach ar na campaí - ní cóir go dtógann tuismitheoirí páirt sna campaí nó a bheith ann don champa ar fad.

  • Seolfar aon ábhair a mbeidh ag teastáil le haghaidh ealaín & ceardaíocht, tionscnaimh áirithe srl. i bpacáiste campa speisialta tríd An Post roimh na campaí.

  • Bí cinnte go bhfuil nasc idirlín ag obair agat, agus go bhfuil tú féin agus do pháiste sásta go mbeidh do pháiste infheicthe agus inchloiste ar chruinniú ar-líne.

  • Beidh seisiún eolas againn leis na tuismitheoirí 15nóiméad roimh an champa ar lá 1 & 2, ionas go bhfuil deis acu aon cheisteanna faoi na campaí a chur agus againne iad a fhreagairt.

  • Uaireanta tógfar grianghraif den ghrúpa ar mhaith le poiblíocht d’Ógras ar na meáin shóisialta agus ar shuíomh Ógras (ní chuirtear na grianghraif ar fáil d’aon 3ú páirtí) - mar sin bí cinnte nach bhfuil ach céad ainm an duine óg le feiceáil ar an seisiún agus ná cur aon eolas eile maidir le seoladh baile srl. 

  • Le do thoil féach thíos do rialacha agus éiteas na gcampaí - beidh ort iad seo a léamh agus aontú leo roimh na campaí. 

  • Young people attending the online Summer Camps should be dressed appropriately, to participate in exercise/dancing etc., and should be wearing sunscreen in case some of the day's activities are outside (in the garden/street next to the home).

  • Young people attending the camps should be in an 'open' area of the household (not the bedroom) where parents can be nearby and check in on the camps - parents should not take part in the camps or be present throughout the camps.

  • Any materials that are needed for arts & crafts, specific projects etc. will be sent in a special camp package via An Post prior to the camps.

  • Be sure to have a working internet connection, and that yourself and your child are alright with your child being visible and audible during an online meeting.

  • We will have an information session with parents 15 minutes before the camps on days 1 & 2, to give an opportunity to ask any questions about the camps, and us an opportunity to answer them.

  • Sometimes we will take a photo of the group for the purpose of publicity on our social media channels and the Ógras website (photos will not be made available to any 3rd party entities) - so please be sure that only the first name of the young person is on display during the online session, and don't display any extra information regarding address etc.

Éiteas an Champa - The Camp's Ethos 

Children attending the summer camp do not need to be fluent in the Irish Language but should have a basic understanding, and should be studying Irish at school.

Irish should be spoken at all times by everyone attending the camp.

Participation in this year's online Summer Camps​ means that parents have agreed that their child will attend an online meeting where they will be visible and audible throughout.

  •  

Young people attending online Summer Camps should be appropriately dressed and attending from an 'open' area in the household with nothing inappropriate in the background, and where parents may check on them/be on hand if needs be.​

We do take photographs at the camps which are used for promotional purposes only and we will not state any members' full names with any of these photographs.


  •  

Bad behaviour, bad language or answering back is not permitted at the camp


  •  

It is expected that each member will show respect - to themselves, all staff members and to other participants for the duration of the camp.

Parents/Guardians should ensure that their child/children understand these rules.
