Ógras Clubs Online
Ógras Clubs have gone virtual!
Things are strange on our little planet at the moment but Ógras is still here and busy at work to continue to bring excellent youth services through Irish to young people, 5-18yrs. We had an amazing run with our Ógras Online Summer Camps this year, where we got lots of experience running online sessions, and we got a wealth of positive feedback from them! We are of course hoping to return to physical clubs as soon as we safely can, but until then we are still active, still committed to and passionate about youth work through Irish, and still here to support our members, leaders and parents. Whatever happens, we are delighted that the clubs will be going ahead and excited about everything we have planned!
Club Details
Clubs are broken up according to geographical area, based on original clubs that we have run up until now, so that the same groups will be together when we can eventually return to physical clubs. If it is your first time registering for an Ógras club and you would like to enquire about the level of Irish/age group of your local club, get in touch with us before registering. The price of club membership is €20 per member - this covers membership and insurance for the whole year. Age-groups are broken into Óg-Ógras (5-11 years) and Ógras (12-18 years). We expect that there will be 10-12 young people in each club session with a maximum of 15. This limit is to facilitate the opportunity for the young people to learn and have fun, and of course to ensure things are manageable for the camp teachers, facilitators and leaders with a focus on quality over quantity.

We are delighted that that we don't have to disappoint our regulars and new members looking for fun activities through Irish, even during these uncertain times. It is important that we continue to provide young people with the opportunity to use the Irish they have in an enjoyable environment, while picking up new words and phrases as they go. Membership in a youth club builds confidence in the young person, both in themselves and in the use of Irish - they gain personal, social and creative skills, relationship building skills, and a general understanding of society through active participation in a fun, safe community.
We are of course here to answer any questions you might have too, so if you need any extra info you may email us here and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
We are very grateful to Foras na Gaeilge and to the Dept. of Children and Youth Affairs for supporting the camps through funding.
